NY 7 has two freeway segments, one in Binghamton and one connecting I-87 to I-787/NY 787 and Troy. Both segments were originally planned to be part of I-88, however, I-88 was routed west to meet I-81 to the west instead, and the eastern extension past Rotterdam was cancelled, resulting in the realignment of NY 7 onto the new freeway between I-87 and the Collar City Bridge. The "hidden" overlap with I-787 is signed southbound but not northbound.
