The Playland Parkway is a short parkway connecting the New England Thruway to Playland Amusement Park. The parkway was initially planned as an extension of the Cross County Parkway, but the extension of the Cross County was cancelled in the Great Depression. The Parkway originally ended at US 9 but was extended to the New England Thruway in 1958. In one proposed routing, the Long Island Sound bridge would have used the Playland Parkway right of way.
