The Inner Loop is a short freeway facilitating travel in downtown Rochester. The freeway was formerly a beltway around downtown with connections to I-490 on both ends. In December 2014, the east end was permanently closed as part of a project to reconstruct Union Street (formerly one of the frontage roads) as a two lane, two way urban street.
